The Importance of Personalization
- Guest post by Elaina Lyons
You know what says the most about you? It’s not the expensive gifts you buy, or if you own a business, your rates or website or even your social media (all of which are extremely important). It’s how you interact with people. There’s a reason people will choose to spend more money just to get better customer service. People appreciate honest, genuine communication. Personalization is a great way to show you really care, whether about a friend, family member or even a client.
When’s the last time you sent a client a birthday card? Or a holiday card? Not a stock card that goes to everyone, but a personalized message to show you actually know who they are. On the business side, this sort of thing is what helps small businesses stand out against larger companies. But on the personal side, sending messages you’ve thought about and crafted yourself, on unique cards you picked out just for that person, shows you know them and care about them.
Humans crave connection. We want to know that the people around us know us, care about us, and have a genuine interest in who we are. And, if you’re a business owner, a simple card is a small price to pay for the long term support of a customer or client.
Most holidays are good occasions for a handwritten card. You can also send “just because” letters to remind them you’re there for their business needs and that you hope they’re doing well. Make the cards cute, personal and, most importantly, real. Honestly goes a long way.
One of the reasons I love Sticky Rice Sisters is their card selection. They aren’t stock cards that everyone is sending around. Cards like theirs are different, fun and eclectic. Business is often seen as stuffy and rigid, but it doesn’t have to be. Have fun. Show your clients you can have fun. Personalized cards are a great way to show that side of you and your company.
How will you personalize your communication today?
